It would be great if King Kong was to monster movies what A Star Is Born is to musicals. Updated and enhanced with every remake, each time adding something new. Sadly, that is not the case. The original RKO version is brilliant in every way and every bit as iconic as the works of James Whale's canon of Universal movies. But then we have the remakes... and while Peter Jackson's was by no means bad, the same can't be said for the others.
