TOM WAITS inspired JERSEY GIRL T-Shirt

Yep, the first time I heard Jersey Girl, I thought it was a Bruce Springsteen song too and given that it is a sign request (even if rarely actually played) at pretty much every Springsteen show, I'm guessing a lot of people still think it is. Hey, it certainly fits with everything else about Bruce, but in reality, it was written and first recorded by Tom Waits for his future wife and then New Jersey resident. A quick look at the lyric changes gives a clue too. Bruce had a romantic view of "girls out on the avenue" in place of the original Waitsian "whores on eighth avenue" and of course, had to add in a bit of young single mum action with the line about dropping her "brat" at her mother's. Anyway, whether you prefer the Tom Waits original or Bruce making it sound like an outtake from The River, we hope you like the T-shirt.
