11 years after the Tunnel Of Love Express Tour came to a close in Barcelona, the E Street Band reunited on the stage just a few miles across the same city. Over the next 14 months, culminating in ten nights at New York's Madison Square Garden, Bruce Springsteen And The E Street Band showed that the still had the fire to be the greatest live act on the planet. But there wasn't a Tramp alive that didn't want to know the answer to the question of whether they could still conjure up that same chemistry in the studio... 18 years after they last recorded together, they gave the world the answer - a resounding YES with the release of The Rising. What a comeback. Inspired in parts by the events of 9/11, it also brought back Bruce's love for rock n' roll - and nowhere was this more in evidence than when he pleaded for us to "turn it up" on the joyous Mary's Place. Hidden away at track eleven, it is still one of my ten favourite Bruce tracks.
