Like so many pioneering women blues singers such as Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Memphis Minnie is all too often forgotten in the clamour to heap praise on their male counterparts. Think of When the Levee Breaks, and it is always Led Zeppelin that it is attributed too, but the original version was Memphis Minnie.
