Undoubtably one of the greatest Jazz musicians to come from Europe (or indeed Belgium!), Jean 'Django' Reinhardt remains a legendary figure and the inspiration for this design. Born into a Romani family and brought up around a strong tradition of amateur musicianship, Django demonstrated his musical talents at an early age, making a living playing Guitar in his teens. Despite being severely injured in a caravan fire (and losing the use of two of his fingers), he went on to become one of the most influential figures in Jazz guitar history both with his distinctive 'hot' style of playing and his compositions, many of which have become Jazz standards.
