James Bond does Blaxploitation. Full of the clichés of “honkys”, pimps clad in leopard skin with big floppy fedora hats, drug dealers, huge afros and more wah-wah pedal action on the score than even Isaac Hayes would have thought acceptable. But even with Roger Moore, the whitest actor ever, now playing Bond, it worked. Bang on action scenes, the first African American Bond Girl, car chases, one of the greatest Bond theme songs and trades in hollowed out volcanoes and megalomaniac lairs for a cool as soul food café by the name of Fillet Of Soul.
