The Piano Has Been Drinking (Not Me) (An Evening with Pete King) might just be Tom Waits's best know track. The purists may not stick it atop of their favourites lists, but it so beautiful encapsulates Tom's swimming in whisky vocals and bar room piano that it's rightly loved and cheered. Does it matter that Waits's no longer drinks? Nah, not really. I don't think Robert de Niro hands out with teenager hookers either, but that doesn't stop me loving Taxi Driver.
