With virtually the same personnel, at times it's kinda hard to tell the difference between The Faces and the early Rod Stewart albums. While on tracks like Maggie May, Rod blurred the lines as he was clearly still in The Faces' raucous barroom partying mode, on Gasoline Alley, we see the difference as he slips into his personal folk-inspired roots. Sure, I'll always love The Faces above most other bands, but when you want a bit of sentimentality, no one does it quite like Rod Stewart.
