I am struggling to think of many musicians that 50 years in to their career are still putting out fresh and relevant work. As much as I love so many of Neil Young’s contemporaries few, if any have honestly made a note of music worth listening to in many a decade. So what sets Neil Young apart? For me, it is the fact he still cares. Like Bruce Springsteen, he may still be insanely wealthy, but it is his inner soul that remains his focus. Whether producing whole albums worth of feedback, squabbling with David Crosby or chilling out acoustically, Neil Young is simply untouchable.
