Way back in the early 80s in Athens, Georgia a little indie band started out with their debut single "Radio Free Europe". They had some great tunes, but did anyone honestly think that REM were going to become one of the biggest bands on the planet? When the single Radio Free Europe was put out on little known Hib-Tone and then re-released on I.R.S. the best anyone could have hoped for was some US College Radio airplay, but Michael Stipe, Peter Buck, Mike Mills & Bill Berry had other ideas. 15 Studio albums (plus loads of compilations and a couple of live offerings) later, they are still here and still as great as ever.
