The first three Black Sabbath albums are heavy metal. As in they are the whole genre, right there. From the opening rain and bells of the eponymous Black Sabbath through to the downbeat doom of Into The Void on Master Of Reality, you could stop there, and you'd have all you need. Ozzy, Tony, Geezer and Bill could have called it quits and retired to run a tea room in Penrith, and we'd still laud them as the greatest metal band ever. But they didn't they kept going and out came Volume 4 and hidden in the middle is Supernaut - quite possibly the coolest riff Tony Iommi ever whipped up. Big claim? Hell yeah, but am I wrong? And it didn't even make their Best Of album? How is that possible? In fact, I'm off to write a BathroomWall Blog post about just that now.
