Whenever I hear some bunch of pop puppets being described as a "vocal harmony group" or "R & B" doesn't it just makes me want to scream and say (to paraphrase of Crocodile Dundee) "That's not a vocal harmony group.... THIS is a vocal harmony group" and present them with The Four Tops. Levi Stubbs' deep baritone voice was unique within Motown, but that didn't stop the Four Tops being one of the groups that came to epitomise not just the Motown label, but pop driven soul from the 60s onwards.
