First up, yeah, we know it is a Brownsville Station track, but like Jeff Buckley with Hallelujah and Joan Jett with I Love Rock 'N Roll, some covers simply eclipse their originals (with respect to Leonard Cohen and The Arrows). Motley Crue embraced MTV with that unforgettable video with Michael Berryman and in doing so tapped into undeniable truth of teenage rock n' roll - that smoking makes you look cool. Hell, I know I started after first seeing Joe Perry pin a smoke to his headstock, but if I'd had MTV in 1985 & seen Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee, Vince Neil & Mick Mars Smokin' In The Boys Room I'd have started even earlier (sorry mum)
