You know a work of fiction has genuinely achieved iconic status and become so ingrained in our culture that it is used as evidence to support or denounce real life issues. The subject of Artificial Intelligence comes up, and people discuss it from social, human advancement and economic standpoints, yet it is alarming how often the “but Skynet in Terminator” argument comes up.
