The story goes that after learning of Hendrix’s death a 14 year old Satch walked out of football training at school, telling his coach that he was quitting to become a guitarist. Whether that’s true or utter bollocks, I doubt we will ever know, but we do know that he went on to teach both Steve Vai and Kirk Hammett.
