As a place in 80s film history, most would see Light of Day's most significant contribution as being Michael J Fox's failed attempt to transition from teen heartthrob to serious actor (he was back making Secret of My Success in a matter of weeks). But that sells it a long, long way short. A bleak take on the failing American Dream of the mid-80s. Joan Jett as a single mother is really damn good. The script came from the same pen that gave us Taxi Driver and Raging Bull and of course, Bruce Springsteen supplied the soundtrack.
